NOT SURE WHETHER YOUR GEAR IS HOLDING YOUR IMAGES BACK?
When you’re considering new gear, it’s surprisingly difficult to know what’s really making a difference: the camera, the lens, or the way the image was processed.
Most comparisons online show finished, edited images. That means you’re never actually seeing what the gear captured.
This library lets you compare cameras and lenses directly using real RAW files from the field — so you can see the actual differences before you decide.

Have you been second-guessing your gear choices?
When you're trying to improve your photography, it's natural to start looking at different cameras and lenses. But the more you research, the less certain you feel.
Is something wrong with my current gear? Are my RAW files supposed to look like this? Will upgrading actually help? What should I even upgrade to?
RAW files give you the actual answer.
Most comparisons online show edited images, not the files straight out of camera. That means you’re always judging gear through someone else’s processing style.
RAW files cut through all of that and show you exactly what each camera and lens is actually capable of.
That's what this library gives you.
Now you can make a confident decision
Stop relying on other people’s conclusions and start working with the files yourself.
Instead of edited results and subjective opinions, you see exactly what each camera and lens is capable of in real shooting conditions — and how those differences behave when you push the files in your own editing style.
What used to be guesswork becomes a clear, practical way to compare gear and make decisions you can trust before you spend thousands.
INTRODUCING

A library of 1000+ RAW files ready to download and explore in your own software, from 30+ camera and lens combinations shot in real conditions, not a lab.

See how much difference a lens actually makes versus a camera body.
Test how files respond when you edit them in your own style.
Work out whether the limitations you're seeing come from your gear.
Compare the exact setups you’re considering before spending money.
Explore what high-end RAW files actually look like straight out of camera.

What photographers say about learning from Jan
“Jan, the legend! You've taught me everything. People ask how I get such good shots and end results, and I always have to say that I couldn't of done it without you!”
“In the last year I've spent £1000s on photo equipment, but the purchase of his masterclass has been without doubt, the most important part in all of it. Thank you Jan - I've learnt so much from this channel and am taking bird photos now that are the best I've ever taken in my life, due to your knowledge and insight.”
“You are a great instructor - clear, precise instructions showing exactly how you edit photos. My editing skills have improved. Thank you so much for making a great photo editing class.”
“I was a bit unsure about signing up, but I'm so glad I did. I can really see my editing and workflow efficiency improving after your course.”
I bring that same experience and knowledge into my RAW File Library, based on decades of working with different cameras and lenses in the field.
Meet Jan Wegener
German-born and now living on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, I have had a keen interest in birds from a young age, with a particular fascination for parrots.
After some time working as a freelance real estate photographer, I decided to go all in on my true passion, bird photography.

I enjoy sharing that passion and helping other photographers in their journey—whether that's creating great bird photos, finding the right gear for the job, or transforming their RAW files into stunning final images with my masterclasses.
This library is a direct extension of that work.
It gives you access to the same files I’ve created in the field. You can explore and compare them for yourself, and better understand what different setups actually produce.
Questions you might have
You’ll get access to a structured library of RAW files from a range of cameras and lenses.
They’re organised so you can compare different setups in a practical way, rather than trying to piece things together from different sources.
No. If you’re already thinking about your gear and how to improve your results, this will be useful.
You can keep things simple and just compare files, or go deeper and explore how they respond when you start editing them.
You’ll need software that can open and edit RAW files.
Most people will use something like Lightroom or Photoshop, but any compatible software will work.
No. These files are provided for personal use only. They’re there for you to explore, compare, and learn from.
The copyright, including any edited versions, remains with me.
Most sample images you see are already edited. That makes it harder to understand what the camera and lens actually captured.
Here, you’re working with the RAW files themselves, so you can see how the image behaves before any editing is applied.
Yes. As I work with new cameras and lenses, I’ll continue adding files where it makes sense.
In some cases, that may include files from cameras before they’re released.
Yes. You’ll get access to the library as it currently exists, along with any updates that are added over time.
